Is Room & Linen Spray Safe Around Kids and Pets?

Safety
By Flair Scents Co. · Home Fragrance

Straight answer, no hedging: our Room & Linen Sprays are labelled not for use around children or pets. That's not us being overly cautious — it's the same standard responsible fragrance brands hold themselves to, and it's worth understanding why.

Why the Caution

A room spray puts fine fragrance droplets directly into the air a child or pet is breathing, at close range, right when it's used — a different exposure than a reed diffuser's slow, passive evaporation. Kids and small pets have less body mass and less control over the space, which is exactly why the label says what it says.

This isn't specific to our formula — it's standard guidance for any concentrated fragrance product, aerosol or spray, used in a home with kids or pets. Anyone who tells you their spray is fully exempt from that caution either has a very different product or isn't being upfront about it.

How to Use It Responsibly in a Shared Home

Spray when the room is empty
Mist a room before anyone (or any pet) is in it, not while they're present — let it settle for a few minutes first.
Skip the nursery and pet bedding
These are the spaces where exposure is closest and most sustained — use a lower-intensity option there, or skip fragrance altogether.
Keep the bottle out of reach
Like any concentrated fragrance product, it shouldn't be somewhere a curious toddler or pet can knock it over or get into it.
Watch for reactions
Coughing, sneezing, watery eyes, or a pet avoiding the room afterward are signs to ease off and ventilate the space.

📌 If a low-exposure background scent matters more to you than an on-demand burst, a reed diffuser placed out of reach is generally the gentler option in homes with kids or pets — see our full pet safety breakdown for the details there too.
