🕯️ Candle Care
Every candle has a memory — and the first burn is the most important. Follow these tips to maximise your candle's life, scent throw and safety.
01
The First Burn is Everything
Always burn your candle until the entire surface melts on the first use — this takes 3–4 hours. Skipping this causes tunnelling and significantly reduces candle life.
02
Trim Your Wick
Trim the wick to ¼ inch before every burn. This prevents smoking, reduces soot and gives you a cleaner, longer-lasting burn. Use your free wick trimmer for the best results.
03
Burn for 3–4 Hours Max
Never burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Let the wax cool completely before relighting. This extends the life of your candle significantly.
04
Safe Placement
Always burn candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from flammable materials. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
05
Extinguish Safely
Take care to prevent wax splatter when extinguishing. Allow wax to cool completely before moving or handling. Never extinguish a candle with water.
06
Remove Carbon Build-Up
If you notice mushrooming or carbon build-up on the wick, extinguish the candle, let it cool and trim the wick before relighting. This prevents smoking and ensures a clean burn.
♻️ Repurpose Your Candle Jar
Flair Scents candle jars are beautiful — don't throw them away. Here's how to clean and repurpose yours:
01
Place the jar in the microwave for 30–45 seconds until the remaining wax liquifies
02
Discard liquid wax in the trash — never down the sink as it causes serious clogging
03
Remove the wick and wipe the jar clean with a paper towel
04
Wash with warm soapy water and dry completely
05
Use as a cotton bud holder, pen holder, plant pot or decorative storage — the wooden lid adds a luxurious touch

🌿 Reed Diffuser Care
Reed diffusers are low maintenance by design — but a little care goes a long way in extending their life and maximising scent throw.
01
Insert All Reeds
Place all 8 reeds into the bottle when you first set it up. The reeds absorb the oil and release the fragrance continuously into the air around them.
02
Flip Every Other Week
Turn the reeds upside down every 1–2 weeks for an instant burst of fragrance and to extend the overall life of your diffuser. Don't flip too often — it burns through the oil faster.
03
Placement Matters
Place near a doorway or area with gentle air flow for maximum scent distribution. Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources which accelerate evaporation.
04
Lasts 4–6 Months
With proper care your diffuser will last 4–6 months. When the oil runs low top it up with a refill oil and replace the reeds for a fresh-as-new experience.
Safety Warnings
- Keep out of reach of children and pets — diffuser oils are concentrated and not safe for ingestion
- Do not ingest the liquid under any circumstances
- Avoid placing where the bottle can be easily knocked over
- May damage wood and porous surfaces if spilled — place on a protective dish or tray
- If skin contact occurs rinse thoroughly with water

🌸 Perfume Care
Get the most out of your Flair Scents Extrait de Parfum spray or perfume oil with these simple tips.
01
Apply to Pulse Points
Spray or apply oil to wrists, neck, behind ears and inner elbows. These warm areas activate and project the fragrance throughout the day.
02
Don't Rub Your Wrists
Rubbing your wrists together breaks down the fragrance molecules and shortens wear time. Spray and let it dry naturally.
03
Moisturise First
Apply an unscented moisturiser to pulse points before spraying. Hydrated skin holds fragrance significantly longer than dry skin.
04
Store Correctly
Keep perfume away from direct sunlight, heat and humidity. Store in a cool dark place — a drawer or cabinet is ideal. Avoid storing in the bathroom.
05
Layer Oil + Spray
Apply the matching perfume oil first then spray on top. The oil anchors the scent to your skin and the combination lasts significantly longer than either alone.
06
Less is More
Our Extrait de Parfum is highly concentrated — 1–2 sprays is all you need. The scent builds and evolves over time so resist the urge to over-apply.

💨 Room & Linen Spray Care
Simple to use and incredibly effective — here's how to get the most from your room and linen sprays.
01
Spray & Let Settle
Hold the bottle 20–30cm from the surface and spray in a sweeping motion. Allow 2–3 minutes for the fragrance to settle and bloom in the room.
02
Best on Linens
Spray lightly on pillows, sheets and soft furnishings for a long-lasting scent that stays with you all night. A few spritzes before bed transforms your bedroom instantly.
03
Avoid Direct Fabric Contact
Hold at least 20cm from delicate fabrics and always test on an inconspicuous area first. Do not spray directly on silk, satin or light coloured fabrics.
04
Store Upright
Keep bottles upright in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. Shake gently before each use for the best scent distribution.
